Before you begin

Want to see how stories will be shared? Visit North Dakota Stories.

There are no “right” answers. Share as much or as little as you are comfortable sharing. Most questions are optional; the final choices tell us whether and how your words may be used.

Submissions are reviewed privately. Nothing you submit is posted automatically. A story or excerpt will appear on this website only after human review and only within the permission you provide.

Our purpose is not to turn people into political or theological arguments. It is to help North Dakotans listen to one another, understand the real impact of our words and actions, and learn what love and support can look like even when people disagree.

Protect your anonymity: North Dakota communities can be small. If you want to remain anonymous, avoid names, exact towns, employers, schools, churches, or other details that could identify you or someone else. A story can still be recognizable without a name, so complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed.
If you may be in immediate danger or are thinking about suicide: You do not need to finish this form. In the United States, call or text 988 or use the 988 Lifeline chat. If there is immediate danger or an urgent medical need, call 911. LGBTQ young people can also contact The Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386 or text START to 678678.
